At its March 3 conference in Sault Ste. Marie, Collingwood was recognized as the top municipality with a population under 50,000.The Municipality of the Year award recognizes the best in municipal leadership and festival and event partnerships in the province.
“We are very proud of all our town events and festivals which attract both visitors and residents to participate and celebrate everything from Family Day (February Family Jam), to Art on the Street, Elvis, Sidelaunch Days and more,” said Mayor Sandra Cooper. “The Collingwood Elvis Festival is entering its 23rd year with unanimous support from town council to continue to grow the event.”
Collingwood has been included among the Top 50 and Top 100 Festivals in Ontario, through FEO, since 2001. Over the years the town has won a number of awards including; best poster, printed program, virtual campaign, sponsor of the year, volunteer of the year and overall promotional campaign.
“Working as hard we do on creating a successful events in Collingwood, we’re very grateful to FEO for recognizing these efforts, and our community for their support of what we do,” said the director of Parks, Recreation and Culture, Dean Collver.
